What love looks like…and being proud of who we are.
Mrs. L’Amour sent me the following adorable video –actually a Sprite commericial. Take a look…

Now, I had two different thoughts when I viewed this video. As a mom-to-be and wife of a “tough-guy” Marine, I can easily see my husband throwing image and caution to the wind and being swept away by our little girl. Afterall, he is a big softy. I think this video shows just one image of what loves looks like.
My other thought was of what it’s like to be a middle schooler. In the moment when the dad opens the door for his friends, I recognized immediately that feeling of being awkward, realizing that others might not understand the very thing that makes us happy. Sometimes that’s what it’s like as a middle schooler. There are things about you that make you different –things you enjoy or love that might not fit with the stereotypes that bind us –and at this age, it can be hard to hold our heads up high and be proud of those things. Sometimes it’s hard to be proud of who we are.
I think one of the best parts of this video is the father’s slight smile at the end. He realizes what they must think, and he’s able to smile about it and enjoy the awkwardness of the situation.
Does this remind you of moments at school or being a middle schooler? What can we do to make it so ALL middle school students can smile, enjoy their individuality and celebrate the awkward moments? Why is it important to be proud of who we are? Any thoughts? Add a comment below for extra credit.
Creative writing idea: try to describe what love looks like for you. Add your description through the comments below for extra credit.

This is my take on LOVE. Hope you like it!!!
When you’re little
Love means, to share
those chocolate chip cookies
or soft teddy bears
the rainbow crayons,
the edible play-doh,
the bounciest ball,
or even a tomato
Love means to share
when you’re still young
and have no idea
other than to have fun!
when you’re in middle school
and start to want more from the world
Love changes dramatically
from sharing to perfect boy/girl
you know what I’m talking about
that handsome guy
who plays the school sports
and makes girls drop like flies
or that good-looking girl
in your biology class
where you fake fail your test
so she’ll help you pass
In middle school, it’s different
from when you were young
but when it hits high school
you’ll wish you had never come!
high school is crazy
love strikes everyone
from teachers to classmates
the love just keeps spreading on
you tend to want more
as you get older
but tears and broken hearts
come with it so don’t bother
falling head over heels
for a rocking new guy
but then find out he’s cheating
and lock yourself away and cry
there will be times you will love
there will be times you will ache
but someone special is always there
don’t fear, he or she will wait
for that perfect time
when you two are alone
so fear not, young lovers
love is like a music tone
sometimes it’s off pitch
sometimes it’s just right
like love, you never know
until you’ve tried
so love is a complicated word
only use it if you must
be prepared to cry or rejoice
when your special someone does
something bad, or something great
I know you’re strong enough to take it
just don’t give up, love creates life
and that certain crush is worth it!!!
May love find itself in your life… don’t take for granted what God has given you!!!

I think that grace’s poem was really good. I think that if there was a contest for the best poem, you should submit her into it. She is a really brillant writter and she shouldn’t be so embericed about her writing. She always know what to say and how to say it. <3
